Terms and conditions

1.1 Event Location: Boltby, North Yorkshire

1.2 Date: 18-19 May 2024

Every rider understands and admits his/her participation in the event is voluntary. He/she assumes full responsibility for any injuries or damages from his/her participation in, or practice for, the event. Participants must read the event regulations and agree to the entry terms and conditions as stated above by the organiser. He/she recognises that mountain biking and the activities associated with this event may be hazardous and that participation is solely at his/her own risk. In this regard, full responsibility for any injuries or damages that may occur lie with the competitor. Every rider acknowledges, that by entering the event that he/she has read and understood and accepts this entire waiver of liability and agrees to be legally bound by it.

3.1 This event is physically demanding, the participant should therefore be fit and in good health to participate. If the participant has any medical condition which could be adversely affected by exercise, particularly a heart condition or has any doubt about his health, he must consult a doctor to gain approval to participate. By entering the participant confirms that, to the best of his knowledge, his general state of fitness is good and takes full responsibility for himself.

4.1 For reasons of fairness, safety and responsibility the Participant is expected to abide by the following rules and regulations as laid out by the Organisers. Ignorance of these rules and regulations shall be regarded as no excuse and failure to comply with these rules and regulations may lead to penalties or disqualification from the Event.

a. Always follow and adhere to the Highway Code and local by-laws
b. The participant should at all times show respect for the environment, landowners, local communities and other recreational users.
c. No outside assistance is allowed during the event
d. Public transport and transport in vehicles is not permitted at any time during the event
e. Stop and assist any competitors in need of medical attention and alert a race safety steward ASAP
f. Ensure any injured competitor in proximity to you is adequately provided for, before continuing
g. Co-operate with Event Officials at all times
h. The Event Director’s decision is final
i. You must be 14 years or over to ride the course
j. Riders are responsible for the worthiness of their own bike
k. Ride in single file where appropriate and no more than 2 abreast at any time. Please be aware of your fellow cyclists and any other traffic. Always indicate your intention to stop or change direction. Extend all reasonable courtesy to other road users
l. You may not deviate from the official route. The route will be indicated by map and signage/tape on route. It is the riders responsibility to follow the correct route
m. It is mandatory that all riders wear a safety approved cycling helmet complying with latest ANSI Z90/4 OR SNELL standards. Any rider not wearing a helmet will not be covered by the event insurance and will be disqualified from the event and could be liable for damages if involved in an accident on that basis
n. No rider may take food or drink from anyone whilst on the move; if you need food or drink you must stop to receive it
o. Individual support cars are strictly forbidden; any participants seen to use one will be disqualified and not covered by third party insurance
p. All riders carry a form of identification showing their name, address and/or contact details of a person to be advised in the eventuality of an accident.
q. All participants should carry enough water and food to last the duration of the ride, energy bars, tools, suitable wet weather gear, money, mobile phone, spare inner tubes and a working pump, as well as extra clothing to complete the ride being undertaken, taking into account the route and possible adverse weather conditions
r. Riders must have number board attached at all times when on course to your handlebars and do not fold or cut
s. On course you’ll cross open countryside and approach numerous closed gates (not on timed stages), it’s vitally important for public relations that you close these behind you.
t. Overtaking – please do not endanger any other riders you are over taking by being reckless.
u. All competitors/team-members are responsible for wearing their timing chip in the correct manner
v. Do not interfere with the timing boxes or their positioning
w. Additional rules may be added in the race briefing which all riders must follow
x. All riders must show valid ID at registration
y. The entire course must be completed on the same bike

Z. Go pros may be worn but adhere to manufacturers guidance for mounting

4.2 Participants should take note of and abide by the following important points

a. Weather conditions may affect some stages and lead to course variations
b. All riders are covered by third party insurance for the duration of the event
c. The organisation reserves the right to terminate an individual’s ride on health and safety grounds
d. The rides will take place regardless of bad weather and will only be cancelled, rerouted or stopped for reasons of safety
e. The organisers will endeavour to provide fluid at designated ‘feed zones’ however, we cannot guarantee supplies will be available at all times and urge riders to only take what they need and be mindful of the needs of those following behind


5.1 Compliance. It is the sole responsibility of the Participant to comply at all times during the Event with all applicable laws, by-laws and regulations of the United Kingdom, including without limitation, all speed regulations, road traffic laws and laws relating to the possession or use of alcohol, drugs or other prohibited substances.

5.2 The Participant acknowledges and understands that the Event is a potentially hazardous sporting event. The Participant acknowledges and accepts that participation in an event such as the Event is potentially dangerous and that there are numerous risks associated with a participation. Such risks and dangers include, but are not limited to: traffic accidents, collisions with pedestrians, vehicles, other drivers, and/or fixed or moving objects and the negligence of other road users. Further, the Participant fully understands and accepts that his participation in the Event may result in serious bodily injury and/or death to yourself or others. The Participant further acknowledges and accepts that the route of the Event may require running and/or cycling on public roadways and on rough uneven terrains upon which pose travelling hazards and risks. Further, the Participant accepts that participation in the Event will result in strenuous physical exertion as participants will be required to be active for very long periods of time, including the risk of being active through inclement weather and/or very hot weather.

5.3 The Participant enters the Event voluntarily and with full knowledge and understanding of the risks associated with participation in the Event, the Participant is strongly advised to take every reasonable precaution and in the case of any questions is advised to contact the Organiser prior to the Event.

5.4 The Participant declares that he/she voluntarily enters the Event with full knowledge and understanding of the risks associated with the participation in the Event.

5.5 Insurance – The Participant acknowledges and understands that it is his personal responsibility to arrange for insurance cover for the Event if the Participant wishes to be covered by insurance. By agreeing to the declaration on the Event Entry Form, the Participant accepts that the Organiser has made this clear to the Participant in advance of the Event.

6.1 The acquisition of essential equipment, including specific safety equipment, in order to take part in the Event is the responsibility of the Participant and the Organiser strongly advises that these acquisitions are secured before entering the Event.

6.2 The Organiser accepts no responsibility for the loss of, theft, or damage to any property owned by or under the control of the Participant deposited by the Participant in the Event’s event village and/or at any point of the Event course. This includes any transport of equipment that may be in element of the service provided during the event by, or on behalf, of the organisers.

7.1Our refund policy is non-discriminatory and does not take into account individual circumstances in order for fairness and clarity. If you are unable to attend the event partial refunds will be available through your SiEntries account as follows: Up to one calendar month before the event 50% of the entry cost will be refunded. Within the final month before the event no refunds will be offered.
To refund your ticket, please go to the My Entries / Memberships screen in SiEntries, and click the Cancel button.

7.2 Transfers can be done by the ticket holder, until two weeks before the event – go to the My Entries screen and click on the “Edit”. Next “Edit / Substitute” the person you want to substitute out and select the “Substitute” option.

7.3 The Organiser’s refund policy is subject to change at the discretion of the Organiser and any such changes are published either within this refund policy and/ or on the Event website. The Participant is advised to visit the Event website regularly.

7.4 The terms and conditions of this refund policy do not affect the Participant’s statutory rights as a consumer. Please contact the Organisers for any questions on the Organiser’s refund policy.

8.1 In the case of the event being cancelled within four days of the beginning of the event [for safety reasons or matters beyond the organisers control], upon written request participants will be refunded the cost of entry minus outlaid costs of the event set-up and organisation.

8.2 If the event has to be re-located due to reasons outside of the organisers control, no refunds shall be given if the event is relocated within an area of 50 miles radius of the original Event location.

9.1 If equipment is provided to the Participant by the Organiser, all reasonable care is expected to be exercised by the Participant in relation to this equipment. If it can be seen that the Participant wilfully or maliciously damages equipment or where negligence has been shown in the care of such equipment, the Participant hereby accepts that the Organiser has the right to charge the Participant for the cost of replacing the equipment.

9.2 Where timing equipment and/or other timing equipment are issued to the Competitor to wear during the Event, the Organiser expects these to be returned post-event. Where they are not returned, the Participant hereby agrees to reimburse the Organiser for the replacement value of £50.

10.1 I understand and accept that media professionals may take photographs and video footage of the event and its participants for use to publicise and promote events and sponsors.

11.1 The Participant is welcome to take photographs and film footage of his participation in the Event for non-commercial purposes (that is for personal and private use only). Drone and aerial photography is strictly forbidden

12.1 The personal data and entry specific information the participant gives will be used by the Event Organisers for the purpose of processing and publishing entries and results and of maintaining membership information. The organisers will not pass this data to any other third party. Credit and Debit card details are held solely by the Secure Payment Service Provider and are unknown to the Event Organisers.

13.1 In registering the participant must provide a valid email address so the organiser can send confirmation of event registration. The email address supplied (and any email addresses given when registering other people) may be used by the Event Organiser to send out information about the events entered. It may also be used by the organiser after the event ends to send follow-up information about the event and future events.
